In the context of inter-jet energy flow, we present the first quantitative result of the resummation of non-global logarithms at finite Nc. This is achieved by refining Weigertʼs approach in which the problem is reduced to the simulation of associated Langevin dynamics in the space of Wilson lines. We find that, in e^+e^− annihilation, the exact result is rather close to the result previously obtained in the large-Nc mean field approximation. However, we observe enormous event-by-event fluctuations in the Langevin process which may have significant consequences in hadron collisions.
[Objective]Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration could be performed better with computer-based preparation. [Methods]Three-dimensional virtual bronchoscopy was used to develop 2 modes of computer-based “virtual endobronchial ultrasound.” “Virtual endobronchial ultrasound standard” used conventional virtual bronchoscopy to determine the spot and angle for transbronchial needle aspiration, which was further evaluated by virtual bronchoscopy. “Virtual endobronchial ultrasound advanced” used multiple layers of 3-dimensional images of the target lesions and associated vascular structures in combination with virtual bronchoscopy. Target lesions and associated vascular structures (eg, pulmonary artery) were visualized through half-transparent bronchial walls. [Results]Both methods required 5 to 15 minutes of prepara...
Reduction can be important to aid quickly attaining the integer least squares (ILS) estimate from noisy data. We present an improved LLL algorithm with fixed complexity by extending a parallel reduction method for positive definite quadratic forms to lattice vectors. We propose the minimum angle of a reduced basis as an alternative quality measure of orthogonality, which is intuitively more appealing to measure the extent of orthogonality of a reduced basis. Although the LLL algorithm and its variants have been widely used in practice, experimental simulations were only carried out recently and limited to the quality measures of the Hermite factor, practical running behaviors and reduced Gram-Schmidt coefficients. We conduct a large scale of experiments to comprehensively evaluate and compare five reduction methods for decorrelating IL...

In this paper, the measurement of capacitance variation, of an on-chip power distribution network (PDN) due to the change of internal states of a CMOS logic circuit, is studied. A state-dependent PDN-capacitance model that explains measurement results will be also proposed. The model is composed of capacitance elements related to MOS transistors, signal and power supply wires, and substrate. Reflecting the changes of electrode potentials, the capacitance elements become state-dependent. The capacitive elements are then all connected in parallel between power supply and ground to form the proposed model. By using the proposed model, state-dependence of PDN-capacitances for different logic circuits are studied in detail. The change of PDN-capacitance exceeds 12% of its total capacitance in some cases, which corresponds to 6% shift of ant...
In an attempt to reconsider communicative competence, this study focused on how young Japanese children and their caregivers mold interactions involving directive sequences, paying special attention to practices related to omoiyari (“empathy”), a distinctive value in Japanese culture. This analysis clarified several strategies used by caregivers and children to capture the attention of recipients during directive sequences. These strategies constitute distinctive phenotypes of communicative competence in Japanese caregiver–child interactions and are induced by the structural requirements of conversational settings, which rest primarily on universal elements. Analysis of these strategies disentangles the intriguing relationships among various codes of communicative conduct and illuminates how culturally shared morality, which is associa...
Two-dimensional arrays of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as localized surface plasmon-resonant (LSPR) optics on a transparent conductive layer of indium–tin-oxide (ITO) were successfully fabricated. The typical surface coverage of the 10 nm sized AuNPs is over 87% for on ITO film roughness of ±0.2 nm. The LSPR wavelength is tunable in the range of 622–905 nm. By adjusting the LSPR wavelength to 905 nm at peak, two-photon photochromic reaction of diarylethene derivative in solution phase was demonstrated with irradiation by an incoherent near-infrared light in the range of 0.017–0.033 W/cm2 instead of a laser, thanks to the AuNP two-dimensional array.
[Objectives]The sensitivity of the current 10 mm cut-off diameter that is used to diagnose lymph node (LN) metastasis is too low. This is the first study to develop a new criterion to diagnose LN metastasis in a region-by-region manner using multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT). [Methods]1) The short-axis diameter of the LNs in MDCT images from 1-mm slices obtained immediately prior to surgery was compared with the pathological diagnosis in 78 uterine cervical cancer patients undergoing primary surgery. For the region-by-region analysis, we divided para-aortic and pelvic spaces into 13 regions. 2) In 28 cases in which patients received neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) followed by surgery, we compared MDCT images before and after NAC. [Results]1) The optimal cut-off in the region-by-region analysis was 5 mm, yielding 71% sensitivity ...
