We present an unusual case of primary intracranial carcinoid tumor of the skull base centered at the level of the foramen jugulare, which was proven with surgical biopsy and later with Somatostatin receptor nuclear medicine scan. We present the salient magnetic resonance imaging features of this rare tumor, describe their characteristic nuclear medicine findings, and briefly review the literature.

To determine the impact of treatment with oral naltrexone on healthcare costs in patients with alcohol-related disorders.Using data from the MarketScan Commercial Claims and Encounters Database for 2000–2004, we identified a naltrexone group (with an alcohol-related diagnosis and at least one pharmacy claim for oral naltrexone) and two control groups. Alcohol controls had an alcohol-related diagnosis and were not prescribed an alcoholism treatment medication. Nonalcohol controls had no alcohol-related diagnosis and no prescription for an alcoholism treatment medication. The control groups were matched three to one to the naltrexone group on demographic and other relevant measures. Two studies investigated how values affect competitive versus cooperative behavior. Each Study presented a new social-dilemma game, in which participants' interpretations of the dilemma (i.e., their subjective payoff matrix)—and consequently the dominant (i.e., rational) behavioral choice—depended on their values. The Paired Charity Game (Study 1) framed the situation in terms of cooperation. As hypothesized, contribution correlated positively with universalism and benevolence values that reflect concern for others and negatively with power, achievement, and hedonism values that promote self-interests. The history of climate modeling begins with conceptual models, followed in the 19th century by mathematical models of energy balance and radiative transfer, as well as simple analog models. Since the 1950s, the principal tools of climate science have been computer simulation models of the global general circulation. From the 1990s to the present, a trend toward increasingly comprehensive coupled models of the entire climate system has dominated the field. Climate model evaluation and intercomparison is changing modeling into a more standardized, modular process, presenting the potential for unifying research and operational aspects of climate science. Potential utilization of fission and fusion???based propulsion systems for solar system exploration is examined using a Mars mission as basis. One system employs the open cycle gas core fission reactor (GCR) as the energy source, while the other uses the fusion energy produced in an inertial Confinement Fusion (MICF) concept, to convert thermal energy into thrust. It is shown that while travel time of each approach may be comparable, the GCR must overcome serious problems associated with turbulent mixing, fueling and startup among others, while the fusion approach must find ways to reduce the driver energy required for ignition.
